ADVANCING SUSTAINABILITY
BUSINESS + DESIGN: SYMPOSIUM 2011
This Woodbury University student organized event consisted of discussion platforms, networking opportunities, extensive physical and digital exhibits of projects from highly acclaimed design firms, and eight lectures. The symposium investigated the following:
The metropolitan area of Los Angeles is facing many socioeconomical, environmental and infrastructural challenges in the 21st century. In order to address these, different sustainable concepts and technologies are being developed and successfully implemented. Despite the existence of such solutions, the process of rethinking the world requires time and persistence. Businesses have been forerunners in implementing sustainable concepts and understanding opportunities. As a result, energy savings and improved material efficiency applied by such companies have ensured their competitiveness on the global market. Today, we see sustainable concepts finding their place in our everyday life through the products we use and the lifestyles we choose. The demand for design that is sustainable is on the rise.
