DAVID M ROSEN

Dr. David Matthew Rosen holds a BA with honors in English from Haverford College and a PhD in English from the Johns Hopkins University. Doctor Rosen has taught at Dickinson College, Arkansas State University, and the University of Maine at Machias, where he was the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Interim President. Since 2003, he has served as the Senior Vice President at Woodbury University in Burbank, California, where he helped institute graduate programs in architecture and the undergraduate programs in game art and design, filmmaking, and media technology. He helped found the Julius Shulman Institute and the Arid Lands Institute. Doctor Rosen was chairman of the board of the Maine

Humanities Council.
He serves as treasurer for the Burbank Arts for All Foundation and chairs the interim report committee of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. He held an NEH summer fellowship at UC Berkeley and a John Carter Brown Library fellowship at Brown University. His publications include The Changing Fictions of Masculinity (University of Illinois Press) and “The Volcano and the Cathedral” in Muscular Christianity: Embodying the Victorian Age, (Cambridge University Press), as well as fiction, such as “Mirror Pond,” which appeared in Portland Magazine. His one published rock song “Valerie” can be found on Greg Kihn’s album Rock Kihn Roll.
